Episode 7 • Brave New Film, Soup Kitchens & Mashed Potatoes

notes: This was a tasty one – I didn’t quite know which turn it would take. Mary at the Dilworth Soup kitchen – who is one dynamic character (check out her instagram) – talks of bonding over a meal … we sample a new “Gives Good Headlines” segment , politics in a minute or less… we welcome new friends and say goodbye to a dear kindred, Tim Smyre, who taught me how to put the pizzazz in Fiestaware.

  1. Hi Martin,

Finally got to listen to episode 7. Exciting that you’ve done the things to be on iTunes, etc. I don’t even know what that is called, is that syndication for podcasts? If you hadn’t mentioned that, I was going to ask about it.

In answer to your question, “What would you like right now?” – My grandmother’s lasagna.

Kudos on the spot for thecalmzone.net. Very important subject that not enough people are talking about.

I did not know you drove a Cavalier for a while. We had one, too. One of the best cars I every had.

In that part you mentioned that you were, “ZigZagging like we was running from an alligator”. I have no firsthand knowledge about alligators (though we have rescued a few, all from Mecklenburg county, oddly). Should you zigzag if you are running from an alligator? My guess is it would be a moot point because you couldn’t outrun an alligator, they are astonishingly fast.

Two thumbs up for politics in under a minute, that was a really good bit.

And you gave me a partial chubby with that mashed potatoes recipe. I can see why people take your podcast to sleep with them. 🙂

Although that made me think, you know what your voice would be good for? ASMR audio. Not really my thing, but there are people making serious bank on that stuff.

And yes, I take notes during your podcast so I can remember what I want to say in the comment.

Hope all is well with you across the pond, take care.

    Vinny
